Nigerian singer, Omah Lay, recently experienced a wave of joy when his senior colleague, Davido, publicly recognized his song for the first time.

In a viral video, Davido, accompanied by famous American online streamer, Kai Cenat, showered praise on Omah Lay. Cruising through town, Davido enthusiastically played Omah Lay’s song, Reason, while Kai Cenat humorously expressed his reluctance to playfully engage with Omah Lay’s music, fearing his girlfriend might get too excited, referencing a past concert incident.

Reacting on Twitter (now X), Omah Lay, taken aback by the unexpected acknowledgment, expressed disbelief at Davido vibing to his music. He confessed to always thinking Davido harbored negative feelings towards him.

“I’ve always thought OBO hated me!”.

Lay recently made an unexpected request on his Twitter account, directly addressing God for financial assistance. This plea surprised many, given his stature in the Afrobeat music scene.

During an interview, he caused a buzz online when he revealed his past religious affiliation and how it has evolved since achieving fame and wealth. He recounted his upbringing in a Christian household and his contemplation of converting to Islam at one point in his life.

Despite no longer identifying with a specific religious faith, Omah Lay maintains a belief in God. However, he has prioritized humanity over religious adherence, a stance he reinforced by referencing biblical concepts during the interview.
