Saturday, March 2nd was a sad one for fans, lovers, families, and close friends of Mr Ibu as the veteran actor kicked the bucket after months of battling illness.

The president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas while confirming his death revealed that he died of Cardiac Arrest.

His death threw the industry into mourning as he was the beloved of many and had made our childhood memorable. The likes of Nkem Owoh-Osuofia, Patience Ozokwo, Destiny Etiko, Mike Ezurounye, Chizzy Alichi, Zubby Michael, Helen Paul, Uche Elendu, and others took to their Instagram pages to mourn him.

Hours ago, Rita Edochie had shared her last encounter with Mr Ibu, stating that what hurt her the most wasn’t his death, but the fact that he suffered so much and groaned painfully in the grips of paleness.

She revealed that the last time she met the late veteran was at Evercare Hospital in Lagos, and they discussed to a certain extent and she was excited that he was fully recuperating.

Rita Edochie expressed belief that her moment with him was when heaven wanted to welcome his soul and relieve him of all stress and burden, as she noted how no one has the right to question the giver of life, God as death is inevitable.

Actors, Charles Awurum and Victor Osuagwu shared their experiences working with him, revealing how they postponed their shoot in Ghana to mourn him.

Charles stated that despite coming into the industry before Mr Ibu, he looked up to him as he was someone who had so much to offer. Victor, on his part, described the deceased as someone who was a vessel of comedy and had lots of comic characters loaded in him.

Revealing their only concern, they noted how God knew best as He is the one who giveth and taketh.

Media personality, Dotun otherwise known as Do2dtun while paying respect to both Mr Ibu and Sisi Quadri described the day as an extremely and undeniably awkward day, which would always be remembered.

He noted how they were exceptional, and irresponsible characters. According to him, one can’t see a better Sisi or Mr Ibu, and it is hard to replicate them or see their type again.

Expressing sadness over their demise, he stated that though it is over for the actors, their legacy lives on.
