It was a challenging period for Nigerians after the Super Eagles suffered defeat at the 2023 African Cup of Nations AFCON.

On Wednesday, reports indicated that the Super Eagles had triumphed over South Africa in the Semi-final and had secured a spot in the Final against Ivory Coast.

Sunday’s match witnessed Ivory Coast claim victory over Nigeria with a score of 2-1, clinching the title of champions for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Following the disappointing outcome, numerous celebrities took to their Instagram accounts to express their reactions.

Among them, Iyabo Ojo issued a public service announcement, warning others not to upset her for the next three years or face her ire. Nonetheless, she commended Nwabali for upholding the nation’s pride.

Williams Uchemba congratulating Cote D’Ivoire, noted how they played an outstanding game in the AFCON final and, hence, deserved the win. He also congratulated the Super Eagles for giving their best performances.

“Congratulations to Côte d’Ivoire. You played an outstanding game today and deserved the win. Congratulations to the Super Eagles for getting this far, not your best performance but hey it is what it is. Now that the distraction is out of the way let’s now face the reality in front of us”.

Mary Njoku in another post, while sharing a photo of the cup tried justifying the reason the Super Eagles were defeated. She stated mocked the African Cup, comparing it to an old gavel wrapped with cigarette paper.

Toyin Abraham revealed that her blood pressure rose as she also mocked the African Cup, stating that it isn’t fine.

“The cup is not even the sef, but BP don rise Sha. We will still give 10k to 100 people”.

Recall that when the Super Eagles won the AFCON Semi-final, Nollywood actor turned clergyman, Pastor Jimmy Odukoya mocked South Africans using their popular song by Tyla, Water.

Consoling them, Pastor Jimmy made a remix of their artiste, Tyla’s Water, which he dedicated to them, though he admitted that though they played a good game, Nigerians had to win.

He stated that if there was any consolidation for their loss, it would be the Grammy Water. However, he would keep praying for them.

Singer, Kizz Daniel had pledged to fly a fan to the UK following Super Eagles win in the AFCON competition.

The fan had taken to the micro-blogging platform to plead with the singer to fly him to his next show in the UK if the Super Eagles win and surprisingly, Kizz Daniel had agreed.

Following Nigerians’ victory, Kizz Daniel had urged the fan to go get his Visa ready as he is flying him to the UK.

Actress, Eve Esin revealed that she had been left injured while supporting the Super Eagles.

Sharing a screenshot of her injured leg, she revealed that she sustained an injury while running away from the penalty kick that was awarded to South Africa.

Despite the pain she was feeling, she was proud to be a Nigerian and proud that something was working right for us despite the economy.
