UCL: Ronaldo’s Brace Inspires Real Madrid Comeback against PSG

Defending champions Real Madrid came back from behind to beat star-studded Paris St.Germain in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie at the Bernabeu.

Talisman Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice in the 3-1 victory.

PSG took the lead in the first half as Adrien Roberto arrived late in the box to collect a loose ball and smashed it over the keeper. Madrid equalised at the stroke of half-time when the referee awarded a weak penalty after Toni Kroos was held back in the box by Giovani Lo Celso. Ronaldo stepped and restored parity with an audacious spot kick.

After the break, substitute Marcos Asienso truned the game on its head by providing two asssists from the left in the final minutes for Real Madrid to clinch the victory. Ronaldo kneed a cross from the younger winger in the 83rd minute to put Madrid ahead.

Three minutes later, fullback Marcelo then advanced into the box with the ball and smashed into the net to double he home team’s lead.

The two teams will play in the 2nd leg of the tie on the 7th of March at Paris.
