The much anticipated 12th edition of the Headies Award was held at the Eko Conventional Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos on Saturday 5th May, 2018 and celebrities in the Nigerian music industry brought their A games to the red carpet as they were all looking fabulous.
The event was hosted by creative comedian Bovi alongside songstress Seyi Shay who stole the spotlight with her black long gown.
The Headies (formerly known as Hip Hop World Awards) was established in 2006 by The Hip Hop World Magazine of Nigeria to recognize and celebrate outstanding achievement in the Nigerian music industry.
Wizkid, Davido and Simi bagged most of the awards at the 2018 Headies awards.
Wizkid won three awards – Headies Viewers Choice Award (Come Closer), Best Music Video (Come Closer) and Best RnB/Pop Album (Sounds From the Other Side).
Davido’s song “IF” won the Best Pop Single and Song of the Year categories, and he also scooped the “Artiste of the Year” award.
Simi won the Best RnB Single for her song “Smile for Me”, the Best Recording of the Year for “Joromi”, and her album “Simisola” won the Album of the Year.
