FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has rejected claims that the administration abandoned major infrastructure projects in Abuja.
Wike said the Federal Capital Territory Administration remains committed to completing ongoing projects.
He made this known during an interview in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
According to the minister, the FCT Administration has awarded 107 capital projects since President Bola Tinubu assumed office.
Wike said the administration has already completed 76 of those projects. He also disclosed that officials plan to complete another 10 projects before the forthcoming elections.
Meanwhile, Wike dismissed claims that the administration abandoned an overhead bridge linking the Jabi area of Abuja.
He insisted that the FCT Administration has maintained a strong record of project execution.
According to him, the government will continue to deliver projects across the nation’s capital.
The minister also stressed the importance of completing projects that directly affect residents.
These include road networks, bridges and other transport infrastructure.
Furthermore, Wike said the administration would complete projects awarded under the current federal government before the end of its tenure.
He explained that the government wants residents to see the results of its investments.
Consequently, the FCT Administration continues to monitor several ongoing projects across Abuja.
The minister’s comments come amid growing public attention on infrastructure development in the capital.
Some residents have raised concerns about delays on certain projects. However, Wike maintained that the government has not abandoned its development plans.
For Abuja residents, the completion of major infrastructure projects could improve movement across the city.
In addition, better road connections could ease pressure on existing routes.
Bridges and other transport projects could also improve access between different parts of the capital.
Therefore, residents will be watching the progress of the projects closely.
They will also expect the government to meet the completion targets announced by the minister.
For now, Wike has maintained that the FCT Administration will complete the projects awarded under the Tinubu administration.
However, the coming months will show whether the government can meet its stated targets.
As work continues across Abuja, project completion will remain a key measure of the administration’s performance.
The FCT Administration is expected to provide further updates as more projects reach completion.
