Nollywood is mourning veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, who has died at the age of 66 after battling cancer.

According to a burial announcement shared by fellow actor Jide Kosoko, Ogogo’s family will bury him on Monday, August 24, 2026, in his hometown, Ilaro, Ogun State. His death has consequently triggered an outpouring of grief among colleagues, fans and members of the Yoruba film community.

Family Raises Concerns During His Illness

Before his death, Ogogo’s daughter, Kira, raised concerns about the circumstances surrounding her father’s illness.

During an emotional TikTok live session on Saturday, Kira reportedly accused some individuals who offered assistance to the family of making financial demands while her father battled cancer.

She alleged that some people attempted to profit from the actor’s health condition. However, those claims remain allegations and have not been independently established.

Meanwhile, the family has continued with preparations for Ogogo’s final rites. As a result, colleagues and fans have begun remembering the actor’s contribution to the Nigerian entertainment industry.

Ogogo’s Lasting Impact on Nollywood

Throughout his career, Ogogo became one of the prominent figures in the Yoruba film industry. He appeared in numerous productions and built a reputation that earned him recognition among audiences across Nigeria.
