Asake studied Theatre and Dramatic Arts at Obafemi Awolowo University. Ahmed Ololade, born on January 13, 1994, is better known by his stage name, Asake.
His career took off in 2022 with the hit single “Mr. Money,” followed by a successful remix featuring Zlatan and Peruzzi. That February, fellow artist Olamide signed him to YBNL Records.
Asake released his debut EP, *Ololade*, that same month, which included his breakout song “Omo Ope,” featuring Olamide, along with the single “Sungba,” promoted by Olaitan Salaudeen. He secured a distribution deal with Empire in July 2022.
In September 2022, Asake released his debut album, *Mr. Money with the Vibe*, which achieved record-breaking success, became the biggest opening day for an African album on Apple Music.
The album debuted at number 66 on the Billboard 200, making it the highest-charting Nigerian debut album at that time.
Asake released his second album, Work of Art, in June 2023, and it debuted at number 66 on the Billboard 200 chart.
He has won several awards, including Breakout Artist of the Year at the 2022 All Africa Music Awards. Additionally, he received a nomination for Best African Music Act at the 2022 MOBO Awards.
In 2023, he received a nomination for Best New International Act at the BET Awards and ranked number 5 on Rolling Stone’s Future 25 list.
On September 4, 2023, Asake won the Next Rated category at the Headies Awards and received a brand-new car. In November 2023, he earned a Grammy nomination for “Amapiano,” featuring Olamide, at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards.
In addition, he received a nomination for the 55th NAACP Image Awards in January 2024 for the same song.
Furthermore, Asake released his latest album, Lungu Boy, on August 9, 2024, featuring collaborations with artists like Wizkid, Travis Scott, and Central Cee.
