Tinubu approves APC’s 2027 campaign structure as Matawalle takes a key security role.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the constitution of the All Progressives Congress 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, as the ruling party strengthens its political structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
As part of the new arrangement, the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, will serve as Deputy Director, Security and Intelligence 1. His appointment gives him a central role in coordinating the security and intelligence framework for the party’s campaign activities.
The campaign council brings together political leaders, strategists and grassroots mobilisers. Together, they will coordinate the APC’s political engagements and mobilisation efforts as the party prepares for the next general election.
According to the Ministry of Defence, Matawalle will coordinate security arrangements for APC campaign activities across the country.
In addition, he will oversee measures designed to protect candidates, campaign officials, supporters and other participants during campaign events.
