Nollywood actor Daniel Etim-Effiong has opened up about the unexpected journey that led him to marry his wife, Toyosi Etim-Effiong.
Why Daniel Etim married Toyosi
In a new interview with Chude Jideonwo, the “Plan B” star shared how a breakup pushed him straight into the arms of his forever love.
Daniel revealed that he initially planned to settle down with another woman while living in South Africa. He told his then-girlfriend he was ready for marriage, but she rejected the idea, choosing to focus on her graduate school plans in the U.S.
“I told her I wanted to get married, but she wasn’t ready. She had her plans, and I respected that. But I felt disappointed,” he said.
After the breakup, Daniel returned to Nigeria to work on a film project, where fate brought him face-to-face with Toyosi. She served as the production manager on set, and their casual conversations soon turned serious.
“We talked for a long time,” Daniel recalled. “I told her I was ready for marriage, and she said, ‘Let’s do it.’ That was it.”
Daniel admitted he had grown tired of casual dating and wanted something meaningful. When Toyosi matched his energy and commitment, he didn’t hesitate to take the next step.
“I was done with random relationships. Anyone with me at that point had to be ready for marriage,” he said. “Toyosi was ready, and everything just clicked.”
Today, Daniel and Toyosi enjoy a happy marriage and continue to inspire fans with their love story.
