BIG WINNERS AT THE 2021 AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS

Big wigs of the American music industry were in attendance at the forty-ninth American Music Awards which  held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

The event which was hosted by American rapper Cardi B saw major wins for various artistes.

Some of the big winners on the night includes the Asian K-pop music group, BTS winning the biggest category of the night, ‘The Artist of the Year’, ‘Favorite Pop Duo or Group’, and ‘Favorite Pop Song’ for their smash hit, ‘Butter’.

Doja Cat won three American Music Awards for ‘Favorite Female R&B Artist’, ‘Favorite R&B Album’ and ‘Collaboration of the Year’, while Megan Thee Stallion won awards for ‘Favorite Female Hip Hop Artist’, ‘Favorite Hip Hop Album’ and ‘Favorite Trending Song’.

 

Pop newcomer Olivia Rodrigo had the most nominations at the event with seven nods but went home with one win in the coveted ‘New Artist of the Year’ category.

The ‘Favorite Music Video’ category was won by Lil Nas X “MONTERO (Call Me by Your Name), while Ed Sheeran took home the ‘Favorite Male Pop Artiste’ category and Taylor Swift took home the ‘Favorite Female Pop Artiste’ category amongst many other winners.

The award ceremony also featured a star-studded line-up of performances by Olivia Rodrigo, BTS with Coldplay, Jennifer Lopez, Bruno Mars and Silk Sonic and more.
