According to Mercy Lambo, she was very excited that people criticized her words, because as the meme went viral, so was the rating of the show, “Mercy, What Next” from which the clip was derived.

Big Brother Naija season 4 Pepper Dem reality television star and winner, Mercy Chinenyenwa Eke has expressed how she felt when her words, “That’s not how we roll in this Lagos”, from her popular show, “Mercy, What Next”, became a viral meme and object of criticism.

According to the Imo State-native, the meme people created with those magical words gave her show powerful ratings, which people didn’t know.

Mercy disclosed that she felt very excited and happy seeing how the meme became a blessing in disguise to her and her show.

The reality TV star, further stressed that she’s very much aware that it’s only negative things that can make someone trend in Nigeria, so she utilized that opportunity to bank on the “That’s not how we roll in this Lagos” meme.

Mercy made this known during her recent one-on-one chat with Nigerian podcaster, Temisan Emmanuel, on Tea With Tay podcast.

Temisan asked Mercy Lambo, “I really want to get this level of confidence in my life where I just do me because that’s what you do, literally, and you’re not so worried about… like, lots of memes have come out about you, the one where you said, uh uh, what’s that popular meme, um, ‘that’s not how we roll in this Lagos’.

“When that meme came out, right, how did you feel about it, because you rode on it immediately, like, you even posted it, you did a challenge?”.

And in her response, Mercy Eke stressed, “Yes, because I was selling my show. I’m on DStv honey, on the premium channel. I was promoting my show. So, I needed that.

“And you know, in this country, it’s only the negative thing that sells whatever you’re selling. If I go out there and feed one million people, nobody is going to repost it, nobody is going to talk about it. But when I do one small thing, you see my show, the rating goes up. What else can I ask for? Sometimes, it’s a blessing in disguise, but they don’t know”.
