Toyin Abraham allegedly cut off ties with Malaika protege, Abike Shuga over Funke Akindele

In recent days, a noticeable trend of celebrity protege fallouts has emerged, adding Toyin Abraham and Abike Shuga to the list.

Abike Shuga, originally Pelumi Olawunmi and the main cast of Toyin Abraham’s recent film, Malaika, encountered a rough patch in her association with her boss, stemming from a dispute over Funke Akindele.

The signs of their strained relationship became apparent when Abike Shuga was conspicuously absent from many of Malaika’s promotional campaigns, coupled with Toyin Abraham’s decreased promotion of her on social media. A clear indicator was Toyin Abraham’s decision to unfollow Abike Shuga on Instagram, while the latter still maintained the follow.

Further investigation revealed that Abike Shuga initiated the unfollowing, which Toyin Abraham reciprocated. Despite Abike Shuga’s subsequent apology and resumption of following, Toyin Abraham chose not to reciprocate. Online reports suggest that Abike Shuga’s reluctance to promote Malaika, citing that she didn’t seek to be featured, disappointed Toyin Abraham. To exacerbate matters, Abike, a Funke Akindele enthusiast, shared a video unboxing her invitation to the premiere of A Tr!be Called Judah.

Just a few days ago, Toyin Abraham blocked an influencer, Adetutu Balogun, for making a mocking comparison between her box office success and that of Funke Akindele and Mercy Aigbe. Adetutu had suggested that Funke would always be the boss.

In response, Toyin promptly clicked the block button, leading to Adetutu expressing her dissatisfaction with the action.

Recalling the longstanding history of rivalry between Toyin Abraham and Funke Akindele, which reached its peak when both released movies on the same date in 2021, it’s worth noting that Iyabo Ojo further fueled the flames by calling out Funke for allegedly undermining Toyin’s film.

However, the feud between the two actresses seemed to have settled, as Toyin celebrated Funke on her birthday last year, and Funke reciprocated. Additionally, Toyin attended the premiere of Funke Akindele’s movie, “She Just Be Obeyed,” dispelling any lingering rumors of animosity between the box office queens.

Late last year, rumors circulated online about issues between Funke and Tobi. Allegedly, Tobi desired to explore other fields, but Funke was reportedly not supportive of him working for other productions besides hers.

To verify the claims, a check on Tobi Makinde’s Instagram revealed a shift in Funke Akindele’s engagement with him. She wasn’t liking or commenting on his posts as she used to. Notably, she excluded him in shout-outs during her premiere, and he was absent from promotional materials for her new movie, “A Tr!be Called Judah,” where Juliana Olayode took the lead.

While some supported Tobi’s decision to explore other opportunities, others reminded him of his colleague, Juliana Olayode, who took similar steps but eventually returned to Funke Akindele’s fold.
