Previously, Ijakumo, released in 2022, held the record with a gross of N270 million at cinemas, while The Ghost and The Tout grossed N134 million.

Just a week after Toyin took a bold step against piracy by apprehending five individuals attempting to sell her movie, Malaika, which was currently showing in cinemas nationwide, she found herself facing another challenge.

During a press conference, the mother of one recounted how she had been alerted to the widespread piracy, leading to frequent hospital visits and panic attacks.

Addressing measures taken to combat the dissemination of the malicious links, the actress revealed that the links had been dismantled, and authorities had arrested five suspects in connection with the matter.

A few days earlier, Toyin had faced criticism from an influencer, Adetutu Balogun, who had humorously compared her box office success with that of Funke Akindele and Mercy Aigbe, insinuating that Funke would always hold the upper hand.

In response, Toyin decided to block the influencer, prompting the latter to express her disappointment publicly.

Adding to her challenges, Toyin Abraham reportedly ended her association with her protege, Abike Shuga, who played a key role in Malaika.

Observing the strained relationship, it became evident that Abike Shuga was conspicuously absent from many of Malaika’s promotional campaigns, and Toyin ceased to heavily promote her on social media. Further investigation revealed that Toyin had unfollowed Abike on Instagram, while Abike continued to follow her.

Sources indicated that Abike’s behavior and her support for Funke Akindele contributed to the fallout between the two.
